Investment project code: 52

We are an intergenerational community group of young people aged 12-20 and ‘21-again’ retired bowlers, who have successfully campaigned to stop the council selling off the last public green space in the toon (Townhead), and lease it to us instead. Now we have the lease agreed, we want to prepare and repair the neglected bowling greens, with the aim of providing a safe, welcoming space for the local community to reconnect with each other and nature as we move into summer and autumn and out of this pandemic. There are two bowling greens at the site. One will continue to be used for bowling and needs work to bring it up to the standard required for bowls. The other green will be developed into a youth and community space, that is used for growing plants, games sessions, picnics and chilling in nature where they live. This green also needs some work to make sure the site is safe for wider community use.
