The primary aim would be to promote community resilience through physical activity by delivering fun and motivating activities. Children and families would have the opportunity to come together for free. It is well documented and evidenced that physical activity releases stress and supports positive mental health and well-being. The intention would be for this to take place at local Parks which are conveniently located within the community. This would give local families a regular structured safe activity to participate in and look forward to. This in turn would assist in promoting the confidence of all those involved. Toryglen is a low-income community and one of the lowest in health and wellbeing in the country. Toryglen is in the top 5% of multiple deprivation in Scotland according to the ‘Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2016’ and in the top 5% of obesity in young people. A key target we would hope to achieve is the transformation in the attitude towards a healthier lifestyle to help combat the health inequalities within the area as well as for families to become more confident in physical activities.
